I have been teaching ABE/GED classes with West ABE for 25 years and teaching for 30 years.  Currently, I also substitute teach for the Osseo Area School District. On a personal note, I’m a wife, mother of three and grandmother of eight.  After family, education has always been my prime focus.

My name is Michelle Higgins and I have been an Adult Basic Education teacher since December of 2010. Before that I taught 6 years in the public schools as a science teacher and 1 year as a librarian.

At the ABE lab at the workforce center we have GED preparation, classes in computer literacy Math, Reading and Writing refresher courses and Boiler’s license study. The computer classes we have cover the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint). We also have keyboarding and QuickBooks.

I have taught adult basic education since 2008 and really like it a lot. I teach everything from adding to doing algebra — and from beginning reading skills to content area reading for the GED tests. I also teach English language learners. Building reading skills is my passion.
